A Sentimiento is a basic shawl recipe to knit while watching your favourite movies. As you will see throughout the pattern, you will have a lot of freedom to adjust this recipe to your yarn and adapt it to your measurements and amounts of yarn. No matter the colours or the fibre. This shawl is designed for you to knit following your creativity.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

Sizes

1, (2, 3)

Model is shown in size 1.

You will find three preliminary measures to familiarise yourself with the “sizes” for shawls. They are relative measurements you can adapt to your height and the length of your back. You can play with the size you want to give your shawl, from a small scarf to a wrap-around cape, like a hug. “A Sentimiento” is an experimental pattern in which you are the main character.

To choose your size correctly, you can measure your back from the nape of the neck to the point where you want your shawl to reach. Write down this measurement and adapt each of the sections to your liking.

Finished measurements:

Total length of the central spine: 57 (62, 67) cm / 22.5 (24.5, 26.5)“

Notes on construction
The “A Sentimiento” shawl is a top-down triangular shawl. The shawl begins at the top with a tab cast-on which the first 9 stitches are picked up.
Construction is done by increasing -from RS only- at the beginning and end of each row and on each side of the central spine.
The different sections are interchangeable and customisable till you reach the 2x2 ribbing end and elastic bind-off.
You will only find stitch counts in the first section of the shawl; from this moment on, the increase sequence will be done the same way, and you can decide the final measurements you give each section. I propose some indicative measures so that you can guide yourself but in this shawl, your intuition rules.

YARN

Amounts may vary because of the type of yarn, personal gauge, and any changes made to the pattern.

C1: 140 (145, 155) m / 153 (159, 170) yds worsted-aran weight on a 100% wool base or similar.
C2: 70 (80, 85) m / 77 (88, 93) yds worsted-aran weight on a 100% wool base or similar.
C3: 70 (80, 85) m / 77 (88, 93) yds thick worsted-aran weight on a 100% wool base or similar.
C4: 120 (130, 140) m / 132 (143, 153) yds worsted-aran weight on a 100% wool base or similar.

Suggested yarn

This shawl is knitted in 4 colours, but you can also choose to go monochrome or use one colour for each section. It is a collection of stitches in which I have been playing with 4 of my favourite shades of Rosarios 4 - Terra.

C1 - 1 ball of Terra - Rosarios 4 - Color 03 #beige worsted-aran weight (100 g / 170 m; 3.53 oz / 185 yd; 100% wool).
C2 - 1 ball of Terra - Rosarios 4 - Color 15 #pinkpowder worsted-aran weight (100 g / 170 m; 3.53 oz / 185 yd; 100% wool).
C3 - 1 ball of Terra - Rosarios 4 - Color 7 #stonegrey worsted-aran weight (100 g / 170 m; 3.53 oz / 185 yd; 100% wool).
C4 - 1 ball of Terra - Rosarios 4 - Color 3 #militarygreen worsted-aran weight (100 g / 170 m; 3.53 oz / 185 yd; 100% wool).

NEEDLES

4,5 / 80 cm US size 7 /8 - 32 “ circular needle or the required needle size to obtain the correct gauge.
Note: if you use a different weight, remember to change the size of the needles according to the yarn you are using.

OTHER NOTIONS

Tapestry needle, stitch markers.

GAUGE

15 stitches and 25 rows = 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4” in stockinette stitch worked FLAT after blocking.
As it is a shawl, the tension is not essential, but it can change the yarn requirements and the final size if it does not fit.

TECHNIQUES

Long-tail cast-on.
Garter tab cast-on.
Lace bind-off.

A Sentimiento es una receta básica de chal para tejer mientras ves tus películas favoritas. Como verás a lo largo del patrón, tendrás mucha libertad para ajustar esta receta a tu lana y adaptarla a tus medidas y cantidades de lana. No importan los colores ni la fibra. Este chal está diseñado para que tejas siguiendo tu creatividad.

DETALLES TÉCNICOS

TALLAS

1, (2, 3)

La modelo viste una talla 1.

Encontrarás tres medidas preliminares para familiarizarte con las “tallas” de los chales. Son medidas relativas que puedes adaptar a tu altura y al largo de tu espalda. Puedes jugar con el tamaño que le quieras dar a tu chal, desde una pequeña bufanda hasta una prenda envolvente como un abrazo. “A Sentimiento” es un patrón experimental en el que tú eres la protagonista.

Para elegir tu talla correctamente puedes medir tu espalda desde la nuca hasta el punto donde quieres que llegue tu chal. Anota esta medida y adapta cada una de las secciones a tu gusto.

Medidas finales

Largo total espina central: 57 (62, 67) cm / 22.5 (24.5, 26.5)“ -o la medida deseada- desde la línea de montaje.

Notas acerca de la construcción

El chal “A sentimiento” es un chal top-down de construcción triangular simétrica. El chal se comienza por el centro con un montaje de lengüeta desde el que se levantan los primeros 9 puntos.

La construcción se hace realizando aumentos -sólo por el LD- al principio y al final de cada vuelta y a cada lado de la espina central.

El chal tiene varias secciones que son intercambiables y customizables y se remata con un elástico 2x2 y un cierre elástico.
Sólo encontrarás contajes en la primera sección del chal, a partir de este momento, la secuencia de aumentos se hará de la misma manera pero tú decides cómo juegas con los puntos totales y las medidas que le das a cada sección. Te propongo unas medidas orientativas para que puedas guiarte pero en este chal manda tu intuición.

HILO

Recuerda que estas cantidades son aproximadas y pueden variar debido a tu tensión, la aguja y el tipo de hilo que utilices o cualquier cambio que puedas hacer en el patrón.

Hilo recomendado

Este chal está tejido con 4 colores pero también puedes elegir hacerlo monócromo o usar un color por cada sección. Se trata de un muestrario de puntos en los que he ido jugando con 4 de mis colores favoritos de la calidad Terra de Rosarios 4.

La combinación de colores es orientativa, recuerda que este chal es una “receta” y una propuesta para que tu juegues con medidas y colores y ¡lo customices a tu gusto!

AGUJAS

Agujas circulares 4.5 US 7 - 80 / 100 cm US 32/39” o el tamaño de aguja necesario para obtener la tensión correcta.
Nota: si utilizas un grosor diferente, recuerda adecuar el grosor de agujas a la lana que utilices.

OTROS ACCESORIOS

Aguja lanera, marcadores.

MUESTRA DE TENSIÓN (galga)

15 puntos y 25 vueltas = 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4 “ en punto jersey tejido EN PLANO, después de bloquear.
Al tratarse de un chal la tensión no es esencial, pero puede cambiar los requerimientos de lana y el tamaño final si no se ajusta a ella.

TÉCNICAS

Montaje de lengüeta de punto bobo para chales (garter tab cast-on).
Cierre -elástico- para calados (Lace bind-off).
