A Shawl For Mary
I named this pattern for Mary Konior as I am inspired by her lovely lace patterns. I chose this stitch pattern for several reasons. First because I love its simplicity which makes it more accessible for beginners. Secondly, because she does not use this particular stitch in any of her shawls. And finally, because I really like the way it looks. I have adapted this pattern by making it curve instead of being purely rectangular. The edging is my invention.
This shawl measures 46” (117 cm) from tip to tip, 66” (168 cm) along the top edge, and 25” (64 cm) from neck edge to bottom. If you want to use a different yarn with a different size hook, you will need to make your foundations chain a multiple of 6 plus 3. Yardage amounts will vary with these changes.
The main part of the shawl is charted. I have also included photos of the piece in progress to help you visualize the pattern. Full written documentation is given for this pattern.
