I love Jane Austen and always wanted a shawl like those worn in Pride and Prejudice .
I always liked Lizzie’s friend Charlotte Lucas, who was the sensible one and definitely knew how to manage Mr Collins! So I decided that I would make a shawl suitable for going to church.
This is a one-skein heart shaped shawl in fingering weight/ sock yarn. It is constructed from the top down, so that you are always increasing 6 stitches every 2 rows with a garter stitch border.
It uses sections of a basket weave slip stitch pattern which I think brings out variegated yarns with a lace eyelet pattern and finishes with a picot bind. The patterns are really easy to memorise and you just need to know knit, purl, yarn over. I would recommend for an intermediate beginner. You will need to pick up garter stitches and if you have any problems there are a lot of tutorials on You tube. I put in a link for one that I found useful.
There was an error in Row 3 of the pattern. This is the corrected version
