A Shawl for Valgerd
Please see notes below.
A Shawl for Valgerd is the third shawl in my “Beaded Heirloom Shawls” Series, an ebook available here on Ravelry.
She is dedicated to a very special aunt in Norway ♥
I love the traditional look of the Haapsalu shawls and to bring a “new” look to a classic shawl design, beads are used in place of nupps. However, nupps can always be substituted but you’ll need to add 25% more yarn to the requirements! Instructions are provided.
A Shawl for Valgerd is rectangular in shape knit from side to side in two sizes. A delicate knit on edging is knit around the entire shawl by picking up selvedge and cast on stitches then grafted together at the beginning corner.
Charts only since they are so extremely large, written row by row instructions may not be forthcoming. Consider this an advanced pattern, not for the faint of heart at the site of a 2,500-3,000 bead (or nupp) requirement :)
Please read the instructions before setting up your charts. Column 72 is repeated on both right and left charts and you need to overlap them to line everything up perfectly so that you only knit stitch 72 once. For those of you who are using an Ipad or Tablet to read the charts, please make a note of this.
