A Side of Cable
This a a very basic sock pattern with just a little bit of cabling on the the side. Top down construction with heel flap and standard toe.
This sock features a panel of cable on the side of the sock. The cables are staggered so as not to be too tight, and mirrored just because I like that look better.
The directions are written for 5 double pointed needles (4 holding stitches, and 1 active needles) and does require some rearrangement of stitches. If you are comfortable with magic loop or two circulars, go ahead. You might want to note the adjustments. The pattern is written out, but only the cable sections are charted.
The pattern is written for 64 stitches (circumference of 8 inches) but may be easily modified for 56 or 72 stitches by increasing the number of stitches in the stockinette section. The foot length can be adjusted (written for about a 9 inch sock - women’s medium)
I love variegated, striped and colorful yarns. This pattern is simple enough that it won’t compete with a beautiful yarn. I think it looks best in solid, semi solid, or tweed but that’s just my opinion.
Just one skein (100 grams) of sock yarn should do for most feet.
