This cowl was born on the cold November day when I visited the La Bien Aimée store for the first time. I fell in love with the Lannister and Eric Northman colorways and knew I had to cast them on immediately. As I sat in my hotel overlooking the Parisian Christmas lights, I cast on a reasonable number of stitches, chose a comfortably sized needle and started ribbing.

As a newbie knitter, I made several mistakes in the first version, but the resulting cowl looked beautiful - mistakes and all. This a fun knit and an easy to wear piece. I returned to the store a couple of days later and showed Aimée my “masterpiece”, which she kindly complimented. Thus, my La Bien Aimée collection was born, as was the knitted piece I wear most often.

This pattern is simple and is meant to show off that special skein you treasure. It is also quick enough for a last-minute gift or some pleasant selfish knitting.

MATERIALS
YARN:
Fingering – 100 g (approx. 400 meters) held triple OR
Aran (100g) and Mohair (25 g) held double

NEEDLES
Recommended needles: 6mm/US 10

NOTIONS
1 stitch marker
Tapestry needle

GAUGE
12 x 24 / 4”(10cm) (after blocking)
SIZE
110 cm x 17 cm (approx. after blocking)
Feel free to make your cowl bigger or smaller but remember that this will affect the required yarn quantity.
