This book was published in 1849. The Small-sized Stocking is the first pattern in the Stockings and Socks section. It calls for a fine wool or cotton yarn and size 4-0 or 5-0 DPN’s (size 18 or 19 under the old needle gauge).

There are two options for the top of the stockings - a hem or a ribbed section. The stockings are meant to be worn with garters.

This small stocking is too small for a grown woman but would fit a girl.
