A Study in Scarlet
“I might not have gone but for you, and so have missed the finest study I ever came across: a study in scarlet, eh?” – Sherlock Holmes
This darling double-chevron design is near and dear to my heart. I’ve used it for years to teach knitters of all skill levels how simple lace knitting can really be! Besides introducing essential increases and decreases in an easy-to-read, easy-to-memorize stitch pattern, it’s the perfect opportunity to practice skills like chart reading, blocking, and more. Of course, it’s also a delightful little knit for experienced lace knitters wanting a quick and easy project. This cowl is perfect for those single skeins of luxury yarn you couldn’t resist, but never knew what to do with (hint: to make the most of your lace knitting, avoid highly variegated colorways).
Special thanks to Heather and my Intro to Lace students at The Yarn Patch in Crossville, TN, without whose encouragement this pattern would never have seen the outside of a classroom.
