A Tale of Morocco - Secret Garden Shawl
Hidden in the heart of the Marrakech medina, there is a beautiful garden which recently was opened to the public. The origin of the garden dates back to the Saadian Dynasty, more than four hundred years ago, and it is an amazing example of Islamic art and architecture. The flowerbeds are surrounded by tiled walkways in teal green colours. These have been the inspiration to my skewed two colour brioche shawl ”A Tale of Morocco – Secret Garden”.
Yarns and yardage
My shawl is made with a combination of two yarns held together;
one fingering handdyed MyPrecious sock yarn and one MyPrecious mohair of matching colours and meterage.
MC – fingering 100 g / 420 m + mohair 50 g / 400 m
CC – fingering 100 g / 420 m + mohair 50 g / 400 m
You can of course make your shawl in any kind of yarns of your choice. The size can easily be modified with the choice of yarn, needles, gauge and pattern repeats.
Colourways used:
MC - Rose Garden
CC - Ocean View
Yarns are available in Vickevira webshop
I made a lovely version where I used 100 g each of handdyed fingering yarn in two colours. and it measures a good 180 cm which is well enough to be wrapped twice around the neck.
