A taste of Estonia
To create this scarf, I took inspiration from the “Lily of the Valley” and “Triinu lace edge” patterns from Knitted lace of Estonia by Nancy Bush and the Spider lace repeat designs by Evelyn A. Clark.
I definitely fell in love with this Lily of the Valley motif the first time I saw it in Nancy Bush’s book. Then, I imagined a scarf designed as a frame in which it might be best highlighted, and the spider lace repeats designed by Evelyn A. Clark appeared to me ideal to fit in my scheme…
Many many thanks to Nancy Bush and Evelyn A. Clark, without whom I would never have been able to achieve this project.
With 17 repeats of the Lily of the Valley motif, the scarf final measurements are : 202 x 38 cm.
But for a shorter scarf, the nb of repeats can be reduced to 15 or even 13, without any risk of affecting the symmetry of the pattern.
The exact quantity of yarn used for the 17-repeat scarf is 140 g/840 meters.
