A Time to Dance
This pattern is no longer available.
To everything there is a season,
Turn, turn, turn…
This song wandered through my mind as I designed this lovely shawl, reflecting the turning of stitches throughout the pattern, and creating an image of being twirled on a dance floor…
A Time to Dance is a gorgeous crescent shaped shawl, which mainly uses a beautiful, gradually increasing, Estonian Lace Spin stitch. The shawl is knitted from a tab outwards, with an optional pointed i-cord or ruffle edging. Apart from the pattern rows every 4th/6th row, most of the work is basic Stocking Stitch - easy!
The pattern has been designed for Lace weight (medium), or 4ply Fingering weight (large), using needles which are about two sizes larger than the recommended size. The shawl’s size can also easily be enlarged by adding extra repeats of the Spin patterns.
The magic of this shawl really happens when the lace is vigorously blocked, creating the wonderful spinning circles effect.
