This pattern was part of the 2020 Itsy Bitsy Yarn Store 12 Days of Christmas Mystery Knit-along.

This is a great project for stash busting or using any of those mini skeins you might have picked up. It can be knit using one to six colours.

The cowl uses a provisional cast on and it is knit flat with an i-cord edge, then grafted together using the kitchener stitch to create the cowl. It is knit using two cable techniques, two lace techniques and two textured patterns to create six different sections. Each section uses a different colour mini skein. Garter stitch panels between each section blend from one from one colour to the next in alternating rows.

Sizing:
Fits an adult sized neck comfortably wrapped around twice. Approximately 8 inches wide. 31 inches long (folded), 62 inches around.

Yarn:
Six fingering weight mini skeins.
20 grams each. 120 grams in total.
92 yards each. 552 yards in total.

Needles:
US #5 / 3.75mm circular or straight needles.

Gauge:
26 sts and 30 rounds / 4” in garter stitch.

Gauge is not crucial, but differences in gauge may affect size and yardage used. If you tend to be a loose knitter, you may wish to go down a needle size to ensure you have enough yardage in a mini skein.

Notions:
Two stitch markers, crochet hook, cable needle, darning needle and waste yarn.
