A Zig and A Zag Scarf
NOTE: As of March, 2015, this scarf pattern is being tested. I expect it to be listed for sale during the first week of April, 2015.
Starting with a cast on of a few stitches, you will work back and forth in rows increasing as you knit, until you reach the point where you change to the lace portion and eventually bind off.
Increases for the scarf are set on one side of your knitting, so that the scarf has a straight edge and a slanted edge.
The directions are written out and a chart is not included, but the lace pattern is an easily memorized stitch, so no chart is really needed. I do include an Abbreviations key on the pattern.
NOTIONS: You may wish to have a row counter, or at least a piece of paper and a pen, to write your row number onto.
NEEDLES: You can use either a circular needle or straight needles, as this is knit back and forth in rows.
YARN: I used Sock or Fingering weight yarn for my scarf. I actually knit 2 scarves in the process of writing the pattern, using yarn from two different companies. Both yarns worked. One was from Madelinetosh (the teal solid colored one) and for the other scarf I used Sockotta sock yarn from Plymouth yarns.
