Abbey's Shawl
This top-down triangular shawl is named after the grand-daughter of a friend, for whom the original prototype was knitted.
Worked in a fine lace yarn (minimum 1,200m/100g), it can be worked in the original Small size which takes only 50g of yarn, and a new Large size which needs 100g. The new version also includes instructions for optional beading: the small size takes approximately 766 and the large size 2,310 (this is adjustable, depending on the sections you choose to bead.)
This shawl would be especially suitable for bridal and evening wear.
The pattern uses basic lace stitches and would be suitable for someone with a little experience of lace, or a confident beginner. The lace patterning is worked on the right-side rows only and there are no short rows.
(Note: the original design included instructions for a thicker version worked in Mohair Silk Lace. I’ve left the previous version of the pattern in the library in case anyone wants to use this yarn. The new version (5.0) only includes instructions for the fine lace shawls.)
