This pattern is a beginning primer to learn the concept of the basket-weave stitch called Entrelac. It starts you with only the “square” shapes.
This pattern is free with the Blue Zircon Jacket pattern to encourage you to discover how fun it is to knit the jacket.

You should know how to knit
stockinette stitch, count stitches and rows,
long tail, knitting on and cable cast on,
knit 2 together, purl 2 together,
picking up stitches on edges of completed knitting and
binding off.

Please read the pattern from start to finish before proceeding. Contact me for questions at 4sharonbdesigns@gmail.com

You will need 4-500 yards of Sport weight yarn and US 6 (4mm) needles. The color variations in the pictures is achieved with handspun or long color change yarn and is not breaking the yarn and manually changing colors. It is knit continuously with one skein.

Primer 2 will outline making bottoms, tops and edges straight by incorporating 1/2 squares or triangles.
