Abigail Fairy Dress
2024 UPDATE: MORE COMPREHENSIVE ADULT SIZE INSTRUCTIONS!
Pattern uses US terms, and is worked from the top down in one piece, no seams. It works best when using a cake of gradient yarn (1-1,5 cakes/1000-1500 m for girls’ sizes, 2+ cakes/2000 m for adult sizes), in either fingering, fine, sport or light DK weight. It is suited to intermediate (or highly confident beginner!) crochet skill level.
NO SEWING. Pattern contains alternatives to puff stitches, as well as HDC3L stitches.
NOTE: This is a very flexible pattern to be able to accommodate any size. As such, it works with measurements rather than stitch counts, but detailed sizes and measurements, as well as estimated stitch counts are provided. I am also very willing to help with custom sizes or advice.
Other suitable yarns are Scheepjes Whirl, Cotton Kings Sultan Deluxe or Twister from Hobbii, Yarn Bee Rainbow Wrapsody, Lion Brand Mandala or any baby weight yarn.
The pattern uses the “HDC into the 3rd loop” stitch. There are many great tutorials on this technique on the web. It is a bit difficult to explain inside the pattern, so please make sure you understand this technique before you start.
NNB: I’ve included alternatives to both puff and HDC3L stitches, if you hate those!
If there’s anything you don’t understand, I’ll do my best to help. I always respond within a day, but usually within minutes.
I also have videos on my YouTube channel “Christel Riley Watts” for the tricky bits.
Please reach out to me if you want the pattern, but really can’t afford it. I’ll help where I can!
Much love from me x
