If you’re anything like me, you love a good story, and that’s where the Abilene Sweater came from: inspiration from my favorite book. I hope that you will knit your own story as you knit your Abilene Sweater.

This pattern was professionally tech-edited and tested. However, I was unable to find testers for size 1, 6, 8, or 9. If you are one of these sizes and would like to test knit, please send me a message!

Construction Notes

The Abilene Sweater is worked by first constructing a back panel and then picking up stitches along the cast-on edge to form the shoulder panels. The shoulder panels are worked flat and joined by casting on stitches for the neckline. The front panel is worked flat to the armhole depth before joining in the round. The cable panels are worked both flat and in the round. Stitches are then picked up for the sleeves before finishing by picking up stitches and working the neckline.

Techniques

  • Knit and purl stitches
  • Long-tail cast-on
  • Icelandic bind-off
  • working cables (both written and charted instructions provided)
