Abir is a crescent-shaped shawl, worked from the top down with stock but glam leaf lace motifs. The increases are made on both sides along the upper edges of the shawl to make the crescent shape.
By simply adding more repeats of the sections, you can make a shawl as large as you wish. This pattern also will be very suited to gradients.

The pattern was tested. Many thanks to perfect test knitters: Ayala120, Pamigena, svetula27, Strickie64, susannesims, wool-zombie, and terevalencia.

Please note: the stitch pattern in this shawl is charted only. Wrong side rows are not shown. The pattern of the leaf lace motifs is only made on the right side. Any chart has written line-by-line description of each chart in a convenient format even for beginners.

This pattern contains a diagram of all section of the shawl on one page as well as all used charts in each section of the shawl. Besides, the pattern gives a written line-by-line description of each chart.

This pattern could easily be made with lace to fingering weight yarn.

The samples knitted in lace weight yarn. Shown in Lace-Garn by Rohrspatz & Wollmeise (1722 yds (1575 m) / (10.58 Oz (300 g)) and Exclusive by Gazzal (208 yds (190 m)/ 0.88 Oz (50g)).

Finished Measurements: after blocking – 73.2” (186 cm) wingspan along top edge, 22.8” (58 cm) deep.

Gauge: after blocking - 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”) = 20 stitches and 32 rows in stockinette pattern. Gauge is not critical here.
To work a shawl, you should know the following intermediate techniques: reading charts, decreases (ssk; k2tog; sssk, k3tog, cdd), increase (yo).

Tools: 32’’ (80 cm) or longer circular needle for knitting flat size US size 4-6 (3.5mm-4.0mm), depending if you are tight or loose knitter.

In order to facilitate the loose ending, you can use a needle of a much larger size, e.g. 6.00 mm or crochet hook size e.g. 5.00 in place of the right needle. If you use crochet hook, I recommend the method Double crochet bind off.
2 stitch markers are optional but if you want to separate each chart and repeat of chart you need a total 24 markers.

Materials: 600 – 710 yards (550- 650 meters) of lace or fingering weight yarn.
