Abracadabra bag
Check this magic morphing: Rectangles of raffia hairpin lace are swooped to form circles, and then a crochet edging transforms them into squares. Two sizes of squares are joined into a larger almost-square for a bag with swerve. Leave it unlined or add a contrasting fabric lining.
Finished Size: 9” short side, 13” long side, excluding handles.
Yarn: Pierrot Yarns Amian (100% plant fiber; 94 yd 86 m/1½ oz 40 g): #612-26 pickles (MC), 2 skeins; #612-28 burnt umber (CC1), #612-23 poppy red (CC2), 1 skein each.
Hook Size: G/6 (4 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
Notions: Adjustable hairpin lace loom; yarn needle; bag handles 13” long.
Gauge: 16 lps = 4” in hairpin lace (without stretching); small square = 3½“ unblocked.
