Abuabu hat can be worn on both sides, the right side cables correspond with the cable on Abuabu mittens. The wong side aspect is more delicate, it forms a unique yet lovely pattern.

Size: The pattern is written in five sizes: child, teenager, adult small, medium and large, to fit head circumference of approx. 17 ¼ ( 19 ¼, 21 ¼, 23¼, 25 ¼)’’ / 44 (49, 54, 59, 64) cm unstretched. The hat can be worked as a beanie or slouch hat.

The size can also be adjusted by going up or down a needle size, or by changing the yarn weight and adjusting the needles accordingly.

Level: Adventurous beginner or intermediate. The hat is knit in the round. The pattern uses long-tail cast on, slipped stitches, basic cables, yarnovers.

The instructions are both written and charted.

Needle size and notions: US 6 / 4mm and US 7 / 4.5mm circulars or DPNs, a cable needle and a marker.

Gauge: 17 sts and 23 rows in stockinette with larger size needles. If necessary, go up a needle size to get the gauge.

Yarn suggested: Aran weight yarn that meets the gauge, 50 - 100g. My sample is adult small and it was done in Drops Alaska, I used 75g / 116 yards / 105m.

Czapka Abuabu jest dwustronna, warkocze po prawej stronie zgrywają się z tymi z rękawiczek (Abuabu mittens). Lewa strona jest równie ciekawa, wzór jest dużo delikatniejszy i bardziej łagodny.

Rozmiar: Wzór jest rozpisany na pięć rozmiarów: XS, S, M, L, XL tak, żeby czapka bez rozciągania pasowała na obwód głowy 44 (49, 54, 59, 64) cm. Czapkę można wydziergać dowolnie głęboką, od dopasowanej do krasnalki. Rozmiar można też dostosować wybierając grubszą lub cieńszą włóczkę oraz zmieniając rozmiar drutów.

Poziom zaawansowania: początkujący z zacięciem do eksperymentów i wyżej - czapka jest dziergana na okrągło, we wzorze używane są: nabieranie oczek metodą klasyczną (long-tail cast on), oczka przekładane bez przerabiania, narzuty i warkocze.

Wzór zawiera opis słowny oraz schematy.

Druty: 4mm i 4,5mm, pończosznicze lub na żyłce, rozmiar drutów należy tak dobrać, żeby uzyskać podaną próbkę. Dodatkowo potrzebny będzie drut do warkoczy oraz marker / znacznik.

Próbka: 17 o i 23 rz ściegiem gładkim na grubszych drutach = 10x10cm.

Sugerowana włóczka: każda, która pozwoli otrzymad podaną próbkę, w zależności od rozmiaru 50 – 100g. Moja Abuabu zrobiona jest z Alaski Dropsa, wersja M. Poszło mi na nią 75g / 105m włóczki.
