Accelerando – quickening; a gradual speeding up of tempo. The tempo of our days seems to move so quickly in the fall as we rush to get outside before the light fades into evening. Some knits are so entertaining to see reveal themselves as the fabric grows. The Accelerando cowl begins politely, quietly, establishing the stripes. A slipped stitch zigzag pattern seems to overlay the stripes. Then, as the cowl progresses, the excitement seems to build as the colors of the gradient emerge and the zigzags grow ever wider. Exciting, but not difficult. There are two yarns, but the pattern works with one at a time. The cowl begins at the neckline and increases to let it lay nicely over the shoulders.
Accelerando is knit with 2 skeins of DK weight yarn – a gradient and a tonal hand dye. The pattern has both written and charted instructions.

Thanks to my amazing tester knitter knitinnana. We are so much better together.
