This pattern explains step by step how to create a cute and simple mug rug using the mosaic crochet technique.

Yarn and hooks

You can use any type of yarn you have or like.
You will need at least 2 colors. Use the hook that suits you yarn.
Note: I always use 0.5 mm hook smaller than racommended for a more smooth texture.
For this mug rug, I’m using Simple Cotton 8/4 from Hobbii and a 2 mm crochet hook.
Color A is Withe (02) – approximately 11 gr.
Color B Red (16) – approximately 12 gr.
With 1 skein of With and 1 skein of Red, using a 2 mm crochet hook, you can obtain 4 mug rugs.
Size
The size of the square will depend on the size of yarn and hook you will use.
My ACE of HARTS is approximately 16×16 cm large.
