Acorn Account
This pattern outlines the steps for knitting up a basic actual-size acorn. The little guy is constructed by stitching two individually worked portions together. Each part can be worked flat or in the round. Basic knitting and stitching skills required. Using size US 1.5 needles and fingering weight yarn produces an object that measures about an 1” in length.
NOTIONS:
Pair US 1.5 / 2.5 mm knitting needles
(DPNs if working in the round/ I-cord)
Sewing needle
MATERIALS:
1g Fingering Wt. Main Acorn Color
1g Fingering Wt Cap Color
GAUGE:
Different size needles and yarn can be substituted. Gauge is not important for this project so long as the Main Acorn Color yarn is slightly more bulky than recommended for the needle size you have chosen. If the fabric does happen to be see-through, consider stuffing with shredded yarn in matching hue instead of using white fill. The weight of the Cap Color yarn is more flexible and of lesser consequence since the cap requires no stuffing.
SKILLS:
Basic knitting technique, with simple increases, decreases, seaming. The Acorn Cap calls for working Seed Stitch.
