Acorn Fingerless Mitts
A pretty acorn motif circles these fingerless mitts, divided by bright Fair Isle patterns. These mitts are perfect for cool autumn walks, typing, texting, or even coloring. Worked in the round from the cuff up, the mitts feature a simple thumb gusset for extra comfort and easy two-color stranded knitting technique.
This pattern offers instructions for child and adult size mitts.
The gauge is 31 sts and 34 rows over 4” (10cm) in stranded Stockinette Stitch, blocked.
This pattern is recommended for intermediate knitters. Knitters should have some experience with stranded knitting, following a color chart, and basic increases for the thumb gusset. The stranded knitting designs on these mitts are simple and do not use more than two colors at a time.
For these mitts I used Knit Picks Stroll Fingering yarn (75% Fine Superwash Merino Wool, 25% Nylon; 231 yards/50g). You will need 1 ball each of Cork (#25609), White (#26082), Grizzly Heather (#27238), Strawberry (#28179), and Everglade Heather (#25607). You can substitute any fingering weight yarn for this pattern. You will also need double pointed needles or 32” (80cm) circular needles for magic loop method in size US 4 (3.5mm) or the size to obtain the gauge.
This pattern includes written instructions and full color charts for each size.
