Gauge: 5 stitches = 1” in stranded stockinette stitch

Here’s a tip for you: use one size larger needle when working stranded areas
materials:
1 – 100 gram CASCADE 220 HEATHERS (100 % wool * 220 yards) MAIN COLOR
1 – 50 gram SIMPLICITY DARK COLOR
40 yards of Cascade 220 ACORN COLOR
Double Pointed or circular (32” or longer) needles #3 and #5
Darning Needle
KEY
BOR = Beginning Of the Round
evenly-by-eye: increase, or decrease, stitches needed casually, spacing them at quarter or half intervals as needed
SSRW = Shadow Short Row Wrap =
KNIT =using color NOT showing on the left needle, knit into front of stitch below stitch on left needle, bringing up loop to lay beside the original stitch (2 stitches side by side emanating from the same loop)
PURL = using color NOT showing on the left needle, purl into loop of stitch below stitch on left needle, bringing up loop to lay beside the original stitch (2 stitches side by side emanating from the same loop)
SSK = slip 1 stitch as if to knit, slip 2nd stitch as if to purl, insert left hand needle into fronts of both stitches and knit them together
K2TOG = knit 2 stitches together as one (= 1 stitch decreased)
GRAFTING or Kitchener Stitch or Weaving = SOCKS = STOCKINETTE STITCH:
Put live stitches equally on two double pointed needles. Thread tapestry (darning) needle with the 18” of cut end from finished work.
Work from right to left.
On front needle:
1. Pass tapestry needle through as if to knit, drop stitch off needle
2. Pass tapestry needle through as if to purl, leave stitch on needle
On back needle:
1. Pass tapestry needle through as if to purl, drop stitch off needle
2. Pass tapestry needle through as if to knit, leave stitch on needle
Keep the tension loose. When done, working from right to left, tighten any stitch that needs it and darn in the end.
