Advanced Beginner: This is a great little project if you want to do some really easy cables and/or practice your magic loop technique…Not comfortable yet with working in the round? Follow the directions for working flat-both are included!

My sweet daughter designed these. This means she told me what she wanted out of her mitts and that means no thumbs-they were to resemble the sleeves of a sweater with thumby holes.

The finished size, if you obtain gauge, is about 7.5” in circumference, which gives her (and my) hands a small amount of positive ease. You can, however, bump up your needles for a larger finished mitt.

I used less than one skein for each pair of gloves-I used Plymouth Encore for the burgundy pair and I used Caron Simply Soft for the grey pair.

These have not been officially tested yet (DizzyTM was super awesome and did test them for me off the books-many thanks to her awesomeness!), and were one of my first knitted designs. Although I’ve made these a few times, errors may have still slipped through, please, if you find any, feel free to let me know and I’ll be happy to correct them.

Why the name? The way the cables intertwine they remind me of the old school little finger game we used to play, “Here’s the church here’s the steeple, open the doors and here’s all the people.” Only my dad would do the other one: “Here’s the church, here’s the steeple, open the door, where’s all the people? Across the street and to the bar, open the doors and there they are!”
