Sizes: Approximately 62 (70)” wide, 31 (35)” from top edge to point.
Materials
• Wollmeise Pure (574 yards, 150g), 100% Wool) – 1 skein Main Color (MC), 1/2 skein each of Colors A and B. Wollmeise Twin works equally well. Sample shown in Wollmeise Pure Nautilus (MC), Skarabäus (Color A), and Löwenzahn (Color B).
• Size 3 (3.25mm) 40” circular knitting needle, or size to obtain gauge.
• Tapestry needle.
Gauge
24 sts and 32 rows = 4” in Stockinette stitch, after blocking.
Note (especially if using Twin, which has fewer yards per skein):
If you find yourself running short on MC yarn or would just like to use more of your contrasting colors, work the following striped tip!
When there are 54 sts remaining, work as follows:
Row 1 (RS): Using Color A, k3, ssk, knit to end of row.
Row 2: K3, purl to last 3 sts, k3.
Rows 3 and 5: Repeat row 1.
Rows 4 and 6: Repeat row 2.
Row 7: Using MC, k3, ssk, knit to end of row.
Row 8: Knit.
Row 9: Using Color B, k3, ssk, knit to end of row.
Row 10: K3, purl to last 3 sts, k3.
Rows 11 and 13: Repeat row 1.
Rows 12 and 14: Repeat row 2.
Row 15: Using MC, k3, ssk, knit to end of row.
Row 16: Knit.
Repeat rows 1-16 5 more times – 6 sts rem.
Work the final 6 sts as follows:
Row 1 (RS): K3, ssk, knit to end of row.
Row 2 and all WS rows: Knit.
Row 3: K3, ssk.
Row 5: K2, ssk.
Row 7: K1, ssk.
Row 9: K2tog.
Break yarn and pull the tail through the last remaining stitch to end.
