These materials are necessary:
- Any smooth yarn not too stretchy of the main color. It would be great if the yarn contains glossy strands. I used Alize SAL SIM (5% metallic, 95% acrylic; 460 m/100 g). You need about half a skein. I like working with this yarn. It does not creak. Lurex is weaved evenly with the main thread.
You can also use:
- Pehorka Mertsayustshaya (96% acrylic, 4% metallic; 430 m/100 g);
- YarnArt Gold (92% acrylic, 8% metallic; 400 m/100 g);
- Magic ROMANCE (4% Lurex, 96% acrylic; 400 m/100 g);
- Nako Lame Fine (96% acrylic, 4% Lurex; 440 m/100 g);
- Koster by Moscow Yarn Company (93% acrylic, 7% metallic; 394 m/100 g).
- 1.5 mm cooper wire - approx. 1 m. You can buy this wire in a craft s hop, but I suggest buying it in an electronic goods store. There you can buy a 31.5 cord. Before buying the cord, make sure that the wire inside it is whole and does not consist of several thin wires. With a paper knife, remove the insulation.
- Stuffing polyester.
- White fabric plaster or insulation tape.
- Toy eyes or beads or semi beads to make eyes. You will need 2 items. The size of the beads is 6-8 mm (or bigger or smaller depending on your toy.)
- Sewing threads to join the parts together.
- Beads to make fins: Czech beads No 10 of the following colors:
- silver flame (30 g)
- transparent blue (10 g) - turquoise flame (10 g) - black (10 g)
- transparent glue (if you want to glue the eyes on instead of sewing them on).
- Dry pastel paints of the following colors: the same color as the tail of the hippocampus, but a bit darker - to tint the upper part of the hippocampus; white to tint the cheeks; dark-gray or black to tint the eyes and hooves.
- black ballpoint pen or permanent marker to tint the eyes.
TOOLS:
- 1.5 mm crochet hook. Attention: choose the size of the hook according to the yarn you use or your manner to crochet.
- Wire cutter.
- Scissors
- Hard synthetic paint brush to tint the toy. I recommend using a fan looking brush.
