Adelita
The Adelita vest has interesting cable patterns that divide in the middle and follow the neckline all the way up to the shoulders. The rest of the vest is knitted in a textured pattern with single purl stitches appearing almost as small bobbles. The ribbed hem begins with an optional tubular cast on, to give the bottom edge a beautiful, finished quality. The bottom ribbing is longer at the back than at the front to improve the fit.
The Adelita vest is knitted in pieces and seamed at the sides. The length of the seams can be adjusted to make the side slits as long or short as you want. The side seams give the vest a bit of structure so it holds its form better. The shoulders are joined with a three needle bind off. Lastly, stitches are picked up from the neck and armhole edges and worked in the round.
All techniques are explained in the pattern.
The Adelita vest can also be worn as a sleeveless summer top. For a summer version I would recommend a cotton, viscose or linen blend, for a warmer wintery version choose yarn with high wool content.
