This pattern provides you with instructions to make your own Cyclops monster with a pizza slice. The tentacled creature is composed of 5 main pieces (Body and Appendages), with a few smaller pieces comprising the detail embellishments. Optional eyelid, belly patch, tongue, lips, and pizza slice are sewn onto the finished body. The monster sits about 9” tall when fashioned using the prescribed materials.

NOTIONS:
Pair US 6 / 4.0 mm knitting needles
Pair DPN or circular US 2 / 2.75 mm knitting needles
Embroidery, Sewing Needles
Needle-Felting Needle (coarse)

MATERIALS:
25g Plied Worsted or Heavy Worsted Main Color
5g Worsted Contrast Color
Small amounts fingering, sock weight for lips, tongue, and markings

GAUGE:
Different size needles and yarn can be substituted. Gauge is not important for this project so long as the yarn is heavier than recommended for the size of your chosen needles and the fill doesn’t show through the fabric of the stuffed parts.

SKILLS:
Basic knitting technique, along with casting on, casting off, simple increases, decreases, and seaming using mattress, whip, ladder, and running stitch. Embroidery portions require chain and straight stitching. I-cord optional.

KNITTING IN THE ROUND:
The main body and appendages may be worked in the round. For the body, I suggest knitting the first couple of rows flat, then joining. Be sure to add fill as you knit, especially when working the eye stalk. For appendages, only join after completing the initial 8 rows flat.

The lips should be worked as an I-cord on 2 needles, while the tongue can be worked in the round using 3 DPNs.
