Adult sized modular cardigan pattern, a Chanel style boxy jacket, based on our famous Amazing Modular Baby Cardigan after so many requests for an adult version.
Uses self striping or plain, worsted weight yarn 16sts 30rows to 4in/10cm square in garter st. I’ve made this and the baby version in dk, worsted and aran and all worked really well, the only difference is drape, dk is softer and lighter than aran so the cardigan will be more flowing. Plus Sizes included. #sizeinclusive

Sized 34-62 inch chest, finished measurements. Recommend Ease is 0-4 inches for most body shapes. I’m bottom heavy and would wear a smaller size than usual as my shoulders are narrow. If you’re not sure, drop me a pm on Rav and I’ll be happy to help.

I’ve used Austermann Creative & Filz in colour 02 (rainbow) which is super soft and gorgeous colours, shows off the modular, mitred squares beautifully or alternatively Austermann Murano Lace, a worsted weight (rav says dk but I get a worsted gauge/tension) self striping yarn with more subtle graduations (57% wool, 43% acrylic) and available in a gorgeous grey/black/mix for a classic look, it will result in a drapier jacket though!
I swatched this in James Brett Marble DK, which is actually a thick dk and knits closer to Worsted tension, so you could also use this for a low cost option.
You could try Monsoon Aran or Vanna’s Choice for those who don’t wear wool or want a machine wash item

Sizes: 32”-34”, 36”-38”, 40”-42”, 44”-46”, 48”-50”, 52”-53”, 56”-58”, 60”-62” finished chest measurement.
81-86cm, 91.5-96.5cm, 101.5-106.5cm, 112-117cm, 122-127cm, 133-137cm, 142-147cm, 152.5-157.5cm

Length: 19”, 21”, 22”, 24”, 25”, 27”, 29”, 31”, 33”
48.25cm, 53.3cm, 58.5cm, 63.5cm, 68.5cm, 73.6cm, 78.75cm, 84cm

The back of the cardigan is a mitred square with some length added, the front pieces start with mitred squares at the shoulders and are then knitted down to the bottom hem. Sleeves are picked up from the sides of the garment and knitted down to the cuff. Sleeve circumferences allow up to four inches of positive ease (it’s a layering piece) but can be easily adjusted by picking up less or more stitches. Or if you prefer a boxy vest style, leave off the sleeves altogether.

For those who haven’t tried modular knitting, you can knit the whole thing flat and seam later. No need to change stitch counts as each piece has a selvedge st to allow easy picking up of stitches or seaming afterwards if you prefer.
