Adult Pig
by Kath Dalmeny
Pigs are well known for loving food, and these tubby little pigs have stomachs to show that they deserve the reputation! Pigs also love to snuffle about in the mud to detect roots and vegetables with their sensitive noses. Sometimes, for this reason, pigs are used as ‘truffle hounds’ for sniffing out the rare fungal delicacy growing among the roots of oak trees.
Materials
The pattern for the pigs varies according to type:
- basic adult pig: 40g of pink or light brown DK.
- adult spotty (’Gloucester old spot’) pig: 40g of pink; scraps of dark brown for the spots
- adult ginger (’tamworth’) pig: 40g of ginger DK.
- adult striped (’saddleback’) pig: 40g of black and 20g of pink DK
- for all variations: scraps of dark brown yarn, and a pair of 10 mm (3/8 inch) toy safety eyes, but felt eyes or black stitches would also be appropriate.
