Adult Playdate Tee
CONSTRUCTION:
The Adult Playdate Tee is a top-down raglan designed with DK weight yarn, making it a light and airy staple for any warm weather wardrobe. You will start by knitting the collar ribbing, then shape the neckline with short rows while beginning the raglan increases. After the neckline is complete, you will continue increasing the yoke before separating the sleeves to knit the body. The sleeves are knitted last. The entire top is knitted in stockinette with 1:1 ribbing on the collar, hem and cuffs, and eyelet increases. This pattern includes instructions for knitting long sleeves.
LANGUAGE & SKILL:
This is an advanced beginner knitting pattern, written in english with US terms. It is recommended that you have basic knowledge of knitting raglan sweaters and short rows before starting.
MATERIALS:
- US 6 (4.0mm) needles in 16-24” (40-61cm) circulars for the yoke and body, US 4 (3.5mm) needles for the collar, hem and cuffs, and US 6 (4.0mm) and US 4 (3.5mm) DPNs or Magic Loop for sleeves.
- Scissors, tapestry needle, 9 stitch markers (one BOR marker and 8 different markers), waste yarn or cord for putting sleeves on hold.
GAUGE:
With the US 6 (4.0mm) needles, 20 sts x 28 rounds = 4x4” (10x10cm) square, knitted in the round in stockinette, and blocked.
YARN:
DK weight (3) yarn. A light worsted can also work but may result in a slightly bigger top and denser fabric. See yarn info and substitutions in the notes on page 3.
Yards/Meters: approx. 545 (610, 690, 765, 840) (920, 985, 1085, 1135) yards / 500 (560, 630, 700, 770) (840, 900, 990, 1040) meters including gauge swatch for the short sleeve version. These yarn calculations are based on average size charts. If you make your top longer than suggested, you will need more yarn.
YARN ESTIMATES FOR LONG SLEEVE:
Approx. 855 (950, 1060, 1170, 1290) (1420, 1530, 1675, 1740) yards / 780 (870, 970, 1070, 1180) (1300, 1400, 1530, 1590) meters
SIZE:
Bust circumference: 30 (34, 38, 42, 46) (50, 54, 58, 62)“ / 76 (86, 96.5, 106.5, 117) (127, 137, 147, 158) cm
The pattern is designed with approx. 2-4” (5-10cm) of positive ease. Measure around the largest part of your bust and choose the closest size. See table on last page for finished garment measurements before choosing your size. If you’d like to see the schematic ahead of time, please email me.
