Advent 2021 KAL
My Advent 2021 KAL reflects two things -- working full time and dealing with carpal tunnel in my wrists. This year’s KAL makes soft warm and cozy scarf that works up quickly in dk weight soft alpaca. Since I wasn’t up for making a full shawl this year, I decided to explore variations on the traditional Shetland lace pattern of Old Shale. I worked a bunch of different variations and then picked my favorites and strung them together in a sort of roller coaster of more garter rows to no garter rows then back again.
I used an “8 hole” Old Shale pattern, meaning 8 yarn overs and 8 knit 2 togethers for the lace pattern row throughout, and changed up the number of rows per repeat and the number of garter ridges (where the wrong side row is knitted instead of purled).
I hope you have fun with it and can fit it into your busy holiday routines!
