Moving between colors, this poncho is a captivating and quick knit using slipped stitches for the “colorwork”. It can be worked up in DK weight or fingering weight held double. It is a perfect project for advent or the countdown to the holidays. My sole inspiration for this piece was the beautiful yarn; I wanted a garment to wear and to use every bit of yarn, all the colors, leaving minimal scraps at the end. Using a contrasting lighter color helps show off the play of colors.

Knit flat in two pieces, 3 in 1 Poncho begins with a provisional cast on which gives 2 options for joining the two pieces. For this particular yarn, I felt the poncho needed the structure of a seam at the shoulder/side so I chose to work the two pieces separately, then used a 3-needle bind off to join them.

Depending on your yarn you may want to consider using the provisional cast on to start the second piece instead of joining it later. Each piece is finished with a 1x1 rib hem. Next stitches are picked up along the long sides, bound off and joined partially with a 3-needle bind off creating the 3-in-1 opening for your head.

SIZING:
One Size with customization, detailed instructions are given for customization as needed. Model has a 39in (99cm) bust circumference and is 5’9” tall (175cm) (31in (78.5cm) inseam).
