You must be logged in to Ravelry when you use the code in order to get the rest of the pattern. KAL clues will be pushed as pattern updates to your username, so if Ravelry doesn’t know who you are, it won’t know where to send updates!

This pattern is a knit-along style release. There will be 25 total updates to the pattern, one for each day of knitting, starting December 1. Updates will be released daily between 9pm and midnight MST each day prior to their corresponding day, i.e. the Day 1 update will show up in time for December 1 knitting. This KAL promises long stretches of meditative, mostly brainless knitting.

This pattern is designed for mini skein countdown calendar/ “advent” sets containing 24 or 25 colors, each color being either 10g (small size) or 20g (large size). Yarn thickness can range from light fingering weight (460yd/420m per 100g) to fingering weight (380yd/350m per 100g).
Feel free to build your own set from your scrap stash too! At stated gauge, you will need a total of 800yd/735m (1600yd/1465m). The pattern will keep a gradient set in order but will also look great with random color placement.

The pattern was designed to use the same amount of yarn of each color, at least as much as possible given the math constraints. The small sample used 8-10g of each color and the large sample used 14-16g of each color, except Day 1 used only 4g for the small and 8g for the large. Day 25 contains an optional finishing detail that uses less than 2g of yarn. If you only have 24 colors, you can use Day 1 leftovers for the Day 25 detail.

The shape of the shawl is part of the mystery, but at its largest dimension, the small sample shawl (knit with fingering weight yarn) measures 65” unblocked, and the large sample shawl (knit with light fingering weight yarn) measures 86” unblocked.
