This is a set of 2 patterns; a hat and a cowl, both designed to use with either an advent calendar or scraps and left-overs.

Pull out your beautiful advent calendar, or all your wonderful scraps! This set is designed for color play on a solid background. You only use a little bit of each color so if you have already used your advent for one project (perhaps one of my advent sweaters?), you can use up the rest here!

You can make this for the entire family; the pattern includes sizes for both children and adults.

Advent hat 2024

Sizes: baby - child (adult s – adult m – adult l)

Circumference: 32 - 36 (40 – 48 – 52) cm / 12.6-14.2 (15.7-18.9-20.5) in
Please allow for 5-10 cm / 2-4 in negative ease for a well-fitting hat – it is better to make it a bit too small than too large!
The hat is rather long ad slouchy; you can of course shorten it.

Yardage:
MC: 180 – 190 (210 - 240 – 265) meter worsted weight or 360 – 380 (420 – 480 – 525) meter sport weight held double
CC: 100 meter fingering weight held double. The pattern suggests using 10 different colors.

Needles: 3.25 mm circulars for magic loop

Gauge: 20 sts x 28 rnds = 10 x 10 cm / 4x4 in

Because you are working with a heavier yarn on smaller needles you will get a dense and warm material. If you prefer a lighter hat, you can easily substitute in a slightly lighter yarn like a DK weight, as long as you get gauge.

Advent cowl 2024

Sizes: child – adult s/m – adult l/xl
The cowl only comes in 3 sizes but is very easy to customize. Just pay attention to the pattern repeat of 10 stitches if you modify the width!

Width: 25 - 27,5 – 30 cm / 9.8-10.8-11.8 in

Length: 62 - 68 – 72 cm / 24.4-26.8-28.3 in

Yardage:
MC: 370 - 420 – 525 meter sport weight
CC: 300 – 350 – 400 meter fingering weight held double!
I give instructions for how to use 24 different contrasting colors, but you can of course play with the colors!

Gauge: 20 sts x 32 rnds = 10 x 10 cm / 4x4 in

This will create a rather loose and drapy material. If you prefer more structure, you can easily substitute in a heavier yarn like a DK weight, as long as you get gauge.
