This pattern was inspired by several other shoulder wraps and moebius designs, both including cables and not. I wanted something that would have enough structure to stay on the shoulders over a sleeved garment, yet have the versatility to lengthen into a moebius-twice wrapped cowl, if desired. Methods employed in this wrap are: various cable stitch patterns, provisional cast-on and 3-needle bind off, also optional chart reading.

To make the shoulder wrap, determine the circumference you need by measuring your circumference approximately where cap sleeves would fall on your upper arms. As long as you’re are using a fiber which will not grow during use, knitting to this circumference should give you a shoulder wrap that will stay in place, yet give your arms room to move. Fibers which grow during use are not suggested for the shoulder wrap, but would be fine for the longer cowl or moebius.

This design is great for building cable confidence!
