Adventures in Overlay Mosaic is worked in single-colour rows using the overlay mosaic crochet technique, and is finished off with a simple envelope border to hide the loose ends.
There are no special stitches, and no mid-row colour changes, making the pattern perfect for beginners to the technique, and also for anyone wanting something easy to do whilst watching TV.
If you are unfamiliar with mosaic crochet or the envelope border, don’t worry, they are much easier to do than they look, and step by step instructions are given.
The pattern is written for a single size (approximately 88 x 120cm), and also includes additional information to enable you to easily make a different size.
Each of the 23 simple designs included in this pattern comes with a clear marked chart and full written instructions, and can also be repeated as many times as you wish to make a longer project, or indeed to make 23 different projects using a single repeated design … and anything in between!
Videos for the gauge swatch / pattern 1 and the Envelope border are available from my YouTube channel:

The 24-stitch repeat also makes Adventures in Overlay Mosaic easy to combine with many of my other mosaic crochet designs, including Lakenham Mosaic Sampler, Meow!, Woof!, March Hare, Flora’s Fauna and Letitia’s Garden (just make sure you start with a multiple of 48 + 6 chains to be sure that all designs will fit properly).
To simplify the abbreviations, and avoid the need for separate UK and US versions, the pattern is written in my ’Universal’ terms (I developed these terms for the Jacquard Temperature Blanket and have also used them in all my subsequent overlay mosaic crochet CALs and patterns).
If you want to find out more about my Universal terms, please see this short video https://youtu.be/IsubXOfEuVw
Dutch translation is also included, courtesy of my dear friend Caroline Tigchelaar.
