The Aedeline Shawl is a large bias knit in three contrasting fingering weight yarn colors. It begins and ends with an eyelet border, and features garter stitch stripes, twisted stitches, and delightfully textured lace. Lightweight, but satisfyingly warm, you’ll never want to take it off.

This shawl is named after a very distant aunt of mine from France. I discovered her after doing some genealogical research on my family. I’d never seen this name spelled this way before, and I found it to be so beautiful and elegant. I’ve uncovered little information about Aunt Aedeline but, in my imagination, I’ve conjured up a full and beautiful life with so many twists and turns, hopes, and dreams. I knew I had to bring her to life through my knitting.

This pattern includes complete written instructions, charted instructions for the lace and eyelet sections, and a schematic.

Wayback Yarns Truly Twisted SW (80% Merino Superwash, 20% Nylon), 400 yds (366 m) / 100 g (3.5 oz) in Natural (MC) (2 skeins), Gone Mad (A) and True Blue (B) (1 skein of each).

YARDAGE NEEDED:
MC - 600 yds (549 m)
Color A - 360 yds (329 m)
Color B - 300 yds (274 m)

CIRCULAR KNITTING NEEDLES:
Size U.S. 4 (3.5mm) – 32”- 40” circular knitting needles, or size needed to obtain gauge.
Aedeline Shawl is knit seamlessly in one piece.

NOTIONS:
Scissors
Tapestry needle
Stitch markers (optional)
Cable Needle (optional)

GAUGE:
19 sts X 48 rows = 4” (10 cm) in garter stitch, blocked. Remember to check gauge.
Gauge is not crucial for this project, but variations will affect yardage and final measurements.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate
This pattern requires you to knit, purl, increase, decrease, knit twisted stitches, carry yarn up the side, and change colors.

This pattern uses standard U.S. knitting terms.
