The colours and lace stitches of the Aetobatus Shawl undulate and flow effortless together in this watery themed accessory.This shawl is designed specifically to show off how colours can merge and blend seamlessly in a way that is often unique to hand dyed gradient sock blanks. Just one double stranded sock blank is needed to complete this project. If you wish you can use a regular skein of fingering weight yarn instead.
Even though this shawl is designed with a gradient sock blank in mind, you do not have to use one. If you do not wish to use a sock blank any fingering/sock weight yarn can be used but keep in mind you may not achieve a gradient colour effect.
However it will be just as beautiful in a speckled, semisolid or solid coloured yarn.

This is a fingering/sock weight yarn with a recommended gauge of 27-32 sts using 2.25-3.25mm (US 1-3) needle.

Nympheas, 1
If sock blanks are not available an alternative for this yarn is Prairie Sock. This is the same yarn used in the pattern in skein form.
MATERIALS:
3.5mm (US 4) straight or circular needles for working flat, tapestry needle.
