Knit Play Colour contains ten patterns. This is the final pattern to be added to the book during the September previews. The book is now released for download via Ravelry and the print copies have started shipping.

Two yarns show their affinity with each other.

This asymmetric triangle shawl is designed to show off a beautiful pair of 4ply/fingering yarns.

They could be close friends in quiet colours and gentle tones. They may relate through shared colours found in a solid and variegated pair of skeins.

But opposites attract too. Try varying textures, perhaps smooth and fuzzy. Choose contrasting colours, whether muted or bright.

This is an easy intermediate project.

You can add optional beads, highlighting the differences between the yarns. Beads make it a versatile day-to-evening shawl.

PLAY
At the end of every pattern in Knit Play Colour, you will find lots of ideas on how to “play” with the design. This is the perfect pattern for playing with two yarns – in endless combinations.

There is a wealth of variety in yarns at this weight, and that is what I wanted to explore here. There are so many ways to pair these yarns!

MATERIALS
4ply/fingering yarn
365-400mm/400-440yds x Main (M)
365-400m/400-440yds x Contrast (C)
3.75mm/US 5 needles. Circulars with 80cm/32” cable are useful when rows get longer.
2 x stitch markers
For optional beads:
1mm crochet hook for attaching beads.
Size 6/0 beads to coordinate with yarn colours
M and C. 75 x each colour, or 150 x one colour.

TENSION
22sts per 10cm/4” over Stocking Stitch/Stockinette using 3.75mm/US 5 needles or size needed to get gauge.

PLAY IDEAS
Keep it to one colour and play with textures: Fyberspates Cumulus 3 x Water (M) and Fyberspates Scrumptious 1 x Water (C). 18 sts per 10cm over Stocking Stitch/Stockinette using 4.5mm/US 7 needles.
