The finished chicken, when worked in 4ply yarn, will measure approximately 20cm high and 22cm beak to tail. This will of course vary with weights of yarn and hook/tension. For a larger chicken work in double knit, aran or chunky. Its impossible to say how much yarn you will need but as a guide you will need around 60g of the main colour, 20g of the secondary colour and scraps for the beak and comb.

This pattern is easy to follow but does require basic crochet knowledge of single and double crochet and the ability to work a magic ring. Everything is easily learnt from Youtube if you are not 100% sure. It is written in US terms but easily converted to UK terms.

It is worked in African Flower shapes with instructions in written form with lots of photographs and handy hints to follow for assembly.
