African Sea Turtle Blanket Buddy
Meet the newest addition to my African Flower Blanket Buddy collection…the African Sea Turtle Blanket Buddy!
This Blanket Buddy works up into a nice car seat blanket size, perfect for dragging behind a toddler on all their adventures or to be squished up and snuggled with at bedtime. As with all of my African Blanket Buddy collection, this pattern works up a bit bigger than my other Buddies, measuring 24-26 inches across when the blanket is spread out. And if you’d rather, you can stuff him between the top and bottom shells and he can be a throw pillow instead! The stitches used in the pattern include sc, hdc, dc, chain, dc2tog and sc2tog. And “he” can always be made into a “she” just by changing your color choices.
The African Flower motif I used for this pattern was originally published by Lounette Fourie and Anita Roussouw in a South African Magazine called “Sarie”, You can find all kinds of versions of this flower on the web, including charts (if you work better from charts). I’ve taken that flower motif, tweaked it just a bit to make it work for me, and used it to make up the blanket part of this Blanket Buddy. In this pattern I’ve included a written description as well as pictures of each step to show exactly how the flower is made. Then I describe how to make the amigurumi parts and how to attach everything to make your own Sea Turtle.
This pattern is a SpicyTuesday original…accept no substitute!
Each of my patterns are independently tested to ensure that they are easy enough to work up whether you’ve been crocheting for 20 minutes or 20 years. And as always, if you have any questions about anything in the pattern, please contact me and I’ll do my best to get them answered for you.

You have my permission to sell any blanket you make from this pattern (of course you can, it’s your blanket!). I’d love a link back to this pattern if you sell online. But PLEASE do not sell, distribute, or rewrite-and-call-your-own this pattern or any part of it to anyone at any time (of course you won’t, because it’s mine). I spend a bunch of time making up and testing my patterns and getting them ready to share…please respect this so I can keep on doing it! Thanks!
