Afrikansk Domino / African Domino - cardigan
From ‘Knitting Out of Africa’: “Inspired by the small flashes of white visible on the backsides of leaping antelopes, the fronts of this kimono-style cardigan feature patterned panels that build around small white squares. The back of the cardigan features a mitered chevron pattern that is worked in a combination of garter stitch and stockinette stitch.
The panels are worked in mitered squares and triangles from lower front to shoulders, then joined at the back neck where they flow into the mitered chevron pattern of the back. Accent areas of stockinette stitch in contrasting colors emphasize the directionality of the mitered pieces. Stitches for the sides and sleeves are picked up along the edges of the fronts and back, then worked outward in rows for the shaped side panels and sleeves. Stitches for the combined neckband/lapels are picked up around the front opening, and the drapery lapels are shaped into points.”
There are three colours used in this design – Main colour (MC), Contrasting colour (CC) and Accent colour (A).
