Afterthought a la Carte explores the unparalleled versatility of the afterthought heel construction for socks. Pick your needles, pick your direction and cast on.
Afterthought a la Carte includes suggestions for kicking your socks up a notch…stripes, contrasting heels and toes, etc.
Yarn:
400 sock yarn
Gauge:
32 sts and 48 rounds/4inches (10cm) in stockinette
Needles:
US 1 (2.25 mm) circular or DPN (or size to achieve gauge).
Size:
S/Narrow, M/Average, L/Wide.
Notions:
3ft (1m) fingering weight scrap yarn
1 Locking Stitch Marker (optional)
Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- The length of the foot is adjustable. Select size based on the width of the recipient’s foot.
- Instructions are included for working from the Toe Up or from the Cuff Down.
- Socks can be knit with DPNs, Magic Loop or 2 circular needles.
Samples knit with Cherry Tree Hill Yarns Fingerpaints in Summer Sweet (yellow/green/blue/red) and Happy Fuzzy Corrie Sock in Firefox (red/blue).
