A fashion statement! Why not make something different?
The sweater is knit with a long rib piece which forms the fronts and the collar. Side stitches are then bound off or put on holders (I found grafting gives a lovely result) and the central stitches are continued down the back. Stitches are then picked up at sides for the sleeves and worked downwards to the cuff (they could be worked in the round.) Then the bottom rib is worked and bound off. The edges of the rib piece you are working will be the bottom of the front and are overlapped so it is double before adding bottom ribbing. That is the only part which could be a little difficult. You could also just pick up sts from one side and then sew the other behind it!
