This pattern is for a cowl, knitted in the round, in a waffle stitch. I love the texture of waffle stitch but I wanted to play around with colour too. I have used a solid and a variegated yarn to achieve this pattern, which looks complex but is very easy to do.

The pattern details explain how to adapt the size of the cowl to suit your needs. Substituting yarn will give a different effect to the one shown here, the result depending on the length of the colour segments in your chosen yarn. The colour segments in the Araucania yarn are approximately 12” long. Whichever yarn you choose, it should still look interesting. Have fun and experiment.

This cowl used 1 skein (100 g) of Araucania Lauca (80% wool, 10% camel, 10% silk) in shade 7 and 1 skein (100 g) of Artesano Aran (50% alpaca, 50% wool) in shade 024. In total the cowl used approximately 101 g of yarn which consisted of approximately 101 yds of Araucania and 72 yds of Artesano.
