Agnesi
The shape of this shawlette inhabited my thoughts for a long time before it finally came to life. I’ve named it for Maria Agnesi, an Italian mathematician best known for her contributions to differential and integral calculus. Agnesi was a professor at the University of Bologna. She gives her name to a concept known as the “Witch of Agnesi,” which refers to a curve that can be expressed in an algebraic equation. I think the curves of this shawlette are evocative of that so-called ‘Witch.’
Finished Size:
Appx 36“ wingspan; 16“ height at center
Gauge:
In garter stitch, appx 22 stitches and 44 rows = 4 inches, gently blocked
While gauge is not critical for the fit of this shawlette, if your gauge is looser than indicated, you may run out of yarn. If your gauge is tighter than indicated, your finished shawlette may be a bit smaller.
