The gauge for the Classic Elite Soft Linen is 17.5 sts and 24 rows in 4 inches in Garter Stitch.

I saw this yarn and thought it very intriguing because of the linen/mohair mix. I wanted to make something with it , but I did not have any ideas. Then, while looking at fashion photographs I was inspired to make a shawl and thought this yarn would be perfect. I like the halo that mohair gives; but needed something more substantial, which the linen provides. This yarn creates a wonderful blend of airiness and body. The idea for the design came from a stitch dictionary for edges that I modified and made full size. I used a larger needle than the gauge of the yarn called for to give the shawl a more lacy feel. Then I made one with Classic Elite Soft Linen which is less lacy but still has the nice drape.

The shawl has three parts: the top edge pattern, the middle garter section and the ruffle, which is made more full with short rows. The shawl is shaped by the garter section and ruffle increasing towards the middle and then decreasing on the other end. The increases and decreases are arranged in sections of row sequences. The shawl can be made bigger by increasing the ending number of stitches in any of the first three sections or the length of the middle section. The decreasing sections, 5, 6 & 7, will have to be adjusted accordingly and you will need another skein of yarn.
